Hi! My name is Susan Jacobs of Personal Style Image Consulting and on behalf of Expert Village;
I'm here to talk to you today about older, better, but not necessarily harder to dress.
In this segment, we're talking about shorts and short pants. Shorts or another word for
shorts today are the city shorts, hit at the knee. Capri pant are pants that generally
grace the ankle. They were originally were worn mostly in the evening and made of nice
fabrics, such as silk and satin and were dressed up with a mule. Today, the most popular short
pant for ladies is the crop pant, which falls somewhere between the knee and 4 inches below
the knee. Those are the most commonly worn pants today. At 50, when we want to look our
best and the most common pant of choice at our age is the crop pant, the best way to
wear those is with a wedge, an open toed shoe, certainly not a flip flop. What all that does
is make is make up look doubty, frumpy, and older. Crop pants do one thing; they cut us
off. Keeping that in mind when we talk about tapered short, like the ones my client is
wearing, look best just at the knee, close to the body. She's wearing them with a slight
heel. Although this is a summer look, shorts of this length ease into fall. We can wear
them with a pump, a little wider short at this length. It could be worn with a boot
when we layer on more top to go with the cooler weather. So the shorts at this length are
very versatile. A lot of women like to choose to wear shorts that are 2 and 3 inches above
the knee. Although that's a personal choice, the rule of thumb is at our age 50 is fabulous;
knees are not, so keep that in mind. Again, if you want to wear shorts that are shorter,
that's your choice. The best look it to the knee.
