Mae and Carl have their assignment, now they have to figure out what to write about.
The first stop for that is the library homepage.
For topics, you can often look at the subjects covered in your textbooks and other readings.
It’s often a very good idea to choose a topic that interests you, as you will be doing a lot of reading on it.
When looking for topic ideas on hotly debating current issues, one of the best places to go is Opposing Viewpoints.
Just go to the Articles and Databases tab, and click Databases by Title. Now go to O, and click on Opposing Viewpoints.
Going to Browse Issues gives us a lengthy list of current issues, with varying viewpoints on those issues.
I’m interested in Internet Piracy, so I’m going to click on SOPA.
As you can see, this page gives you a lot of overview information about your subject.
Now that we’ve got our topic, let’s move on in the research process.
