'Cold Colossus' is a song about going through changes, both physically and mentally, and in fact, a lot of material on Pandemic Transgression incorporates that theme.
The speaker is a member of humanity, that has survived the initial wave of cleansing.
He thinks he's dead... but reawakens his mind, regaining self-awareness. The anger against his new reality fuels his desire to survive.
He is of course not the only human left. Others awaken and find themselves in a similar state.
This is probably one of my favourite songs off the album. I think it came together quite well, and flows beautifully.
I think also that the melodies contribute to the mental imagery of the story, working in unison with the lyrics.
When the song ends, it goes right into the album's interlude 'Transgression Part II: Ad Mortem', which translated means "in death."
The interlude, I feel, serves as a dirge for the second wave of cleansing that befalls humanity, in the following song.
