Next to most channels, there's a little box
that says, "Related Channels on YouTube."
How do you get rid of that box?
And if you do, what happens to your channel?
That is coming up.
[FUZZY NOISE]
Hey, guys.
My name is Tim Schmoyer, and it is Wednesday,
which means it is time to give you guys some YouTube tips.
I got a really simple one for you guys,
but one that's been asked several times of me.
So I know it's not YouTube Q and A. That's coming tomorrow.
But I did want to help you guys out with this one,
and that is, how do you get rid of YouTube suggestive, related
channel?
Like maybe you have a channel and you're
seeing things in there, like, that channel
is not related to mine.
Or maybe you just see some people in there
that you just really don't want to promote
or have affiliated or associated with your channel in any way.
No judgment there.
Just, you know, [LAUGHS] it might happen.
So how do you get rid of it?
It's actually really easy.
If you go to your YouTube channel,
just to your front page there, and hover your mouse
over that little box, there's a little Enabled box right there,
little button at the top.
All you do is simply click it and then disable,
and now it is gone.
Now, a little message, though, pops up, says,
"not showing this prevents your channel
from being recommended across YouTube on other channel
pages."
So if you want your channel to show up
as a recommended channel against other people's channel,
you got to keep that enabled.
Like, if you're not sharing the love,
YouTube's not going to share the love with you.
So, personally, I keep it enabled.
But to be totally honest with you guys, like, how effective
that little box is to actually driving
new subscribers and new views to other channels, I don't know.
It's probably not a whole lot.
So I actually just don't worry about it,
and I just leave it there in the off chance
that maybe my channel will show up as a related recommended
channel to someone else's channel.
And maybe it might get a view here or there.
But just in general, it's just a good idea
to share the love here on YouTube whenever possible.
I'd love to hear from you guys in the comments
below on whether, or not, you have that box enabled
on your channel.
And if so, why?
And if not, why not?
I'm sure there's some other great cases why
you might need to disable that.
So if there are, comment below.
And the rest of you guys, if this
is something you're trying to figure out on your channel,
whether, or not, you should have that box enabled or disabled,
check out the comments below and thumbs up
the ones that you find the most helpful.
And if this is your first time here,
we'd love to have you subscribe every Wednesday.
We do some YouTube tips and advice, ideas, suggestions,
things like that.
Tomorrow, on Thursdays, I give you guys some YouTube Q
and A, where I answer a question that one of you guys
has submitted.
And then on Tuesdays, we look at some online video news
and the updates that are happening
to YouTube all the time and talk about the implications
that it has for us as creators.
And I do all this because I really
believe that a lot of you guys have messages that could really
change people's lives if those people could just
find you and hear what you have to say.
So thank you for letting me be a part of helping you guys build
your channels, build your audiences,
and your YouTube viewership and subscribership and communities,
and all that good stuff.
Subscribe, and I'll see you guys again tomorrow
for some Q and A. See you then.
Bye.
