The Meaning of Christmas Song By Robert Boog
It rained hard the night before Christmas But I had to buy a gift or two
Yet for some unspoken reason I turned left on the avenue.
My van moved slow through pouring rain when I saw someone falling down
She held a bundled baby and Her husband helped her off the ground
I pulled off to the side and yelled out “Do you need a ride?”
Not sure if they spoke English But they quickly jumped inside.
When I asked them “Where ya headed to?” the man he said “Jose”
Called his wife Maria And said that Sixth Street would be okay.
Well, they smelled a bit like humility Maria and Jose
They’d named their baby Jesus Cuz he was born on the holiday
So hush a bye and don’t you cry Cuz everything’s okay
Soon I’ll be opening presents cuz that’s the meaning of Christmas Day
When we got to the destination I found everything pitch dark
“We stay in a back garage ” he said So I put my van in park.
“Gracias for the ride amigo, Tu eres amable”
Then Maria bundled up their babe And I watched them step away
Well, they smelled a bit like humility Maria and Jose
They’d named their baby Jesus Cuz he was born on the holiday
So hush a bye and don’t you cry Cuz everything’s okay
Soon I’ll be home with my family - that’s the meaning of Christmas Day
The next day I drove to Sixth street Out of pure curiosity
The day was warm and sunny So I parked beside a tree
That’s when I discovered to my surprise There was no garage at back.
Just a vacant lot with a chain-link fence And I wondered where they’d went
If there’s a message to this song it’s treat everyone the same – try to
Do something nice for others that (could Be) you walking in the rain
Well they smelled a bit like humility Maria and Jose
They’d named their baby Jesus Cuz he was born on the holiday
So hush a bye and don’t you cry Cuz everything’s okay
Today I’ll celebrate my savior’s birth that’s the meaning of Christmas Day
Yeah, the meaning of Christmas Day
