ASAE Career Headquarters is excited to introduce to the Online Mentor Connector. We’ll help
you connect with an association professional who can help guide your career to the next
level.
Go to www.asaecenter.org/mentorconnector to get there. Or if you go to www.asaecenter.org,
you can to go to the tab labeled Your Career, and select ASAE Mentor Connector from the
dropdown menu.
To find a mentor, click on the Find a Mentor link on the Mentor Connector main page. You’ll
then be able to search through several different criteria, including keywords or gender. You
can also choose to bypass search terms, and search all of our mentor listings.
You can search for a mentor without being logged in or having a profile. However, you
will not be able to contact a mentor unless you have a mentee profile and you’re logged
in. To construct a profile, select Become a Mentee from the Mentor Connector main page.
You’ll be asked to log in.
If you have an account already, log in. If not, you’ll have to create an online account.
If you have any questions about the mentee requirements, please e-mail careerhq@asaecenter.org.
After you log in, certain profile areas are pre-populated with information from your existing
ASAE and the center online profile. What you enter into your profile is displayed publicly,
including diversity fields. If you prefer not to display that information, please leave
those fields blank. The only fields that must be completed are the ones marked with a blue
plus sign. Please remember that if you update your profile information for your mentee profile,
it does not update your ASAE in the center membership, or your ASAE Career Center records.
Mentees can request engagements with no more than two mentors at a time. Also, this service
is not for job seekers. Our mentors are generously donating time to help you advance your skills,
not act as job recruiters. But it’s not enough just to have a profile. The responsibility
is the mentee’s to actively seek a mentor to receive the full benefits of Mentor Connector.
Mentors won’t seek mentees.
To make an engagement request, seek out a mentor that has the expertise and availability
you’re seeking. Every mentor displays the number of hours per week they’d be available
to you, as well as the date on which this availability starts. If you request more time
than they can give, or a start date before their availability begins, the system will
make you correct all of those fields before sending the request.
When you send the engagement request, you can attach work sample documents for the potential
mentor to review. These documents should only be work samples. The Mentor Connector is not
for the submission of resumes.
When a mentor receives your engagement request, you’ll receive an e-mail telling you if
they accept it as proposed, or propose a change to accommodate their schedule. After the details
are arranged, you’ll be able to start the learning process. Once the mentor has accepted
your engagement, you’ll be able to access his or her contact information in your mentee
dashboard in the system. When your time with the mentor is completed, they will close the
engagement.
You may also view FAQs on the Mentor Connector, as well as other helpful resources in the
online library. If you have any questions, please contact the ASAE Career Services team
at asaecarrerhq@asaecenter.org, or phone 202-626-2891.
Thanks for choosing to learn more about our new Mentor Connector system. We look forward
to connecting you with an association professional whose experience and guidance can help you
grow to the next level.
