Interior detail consisted of a pilot and a chair
Painting the engine with watered down black paint then gently wiping it off leaves the paint just in the cracks
Using filler to fill in any big cracks where parts didn't join. Wiping off the excess with a damp paper towel.
Using Humbrol 65 acrylic paint watered down 50/50. I applied 3 coats
3 coats of Humbrol 85 acrylic for the main olive green colour
A coat of gloss varnish thinned down applied ready for the decals
The decals were really old, and some of them split when I put them on.
I brushed Micro set onto the model where I was going to put the decals so they would stick better.
The decals under the wings were really yellow with age but I didn't mind
I attempted to make the decals conform more by brushing Micro Sol over them. I think they were too old though.
Another coat of gloss varnish to seal the decals
I mixed chalk dust with a drop of washing-up liquid and some water to create a wash for the model
Using a damp cotton bud I gently rubbed off the excess wash once it had dried to leave it just in the recessed lines
After a matt varnish, I mixed Humbrol 85 with 103 to make a lighter green for dry-brushing - to highlight the raised detail
To create the effect of chipped paint I roughly added a bit of silver in some places, and for rust a bit of bronze
Black chalk dust dragged back from the guns in the direction of the airflow creates a sooty effect
I did the same for the exhaust but added some brown to the black
I used PVA glue to attach the clear canopy, then painted it
A well fitting kit with mainly raised detail. Really good considering it was such an old kit
