Housing and child poverty
are priorities in the Government's Budget 2013
to be announced by Finance Minister Bill English on Thursday.
Our political commentator Irena Smith has the details.
Two days left until the announcement of the Budget 2013.
Housing and child poverty are priority for the Government,
but we'll have to wait until Thursday
to see just how much they get.
Struggling families are set to gain something
from the Government's Budget.
But the Government is keeping tight-lipped
about how much money they will be spending.
The Prime Minister says
he doesn't support Hone Harawira's Feed the Kids Bill,
but says the Government wants to target the highly impoverished.
More affordable housing and social housing
is also going to be big focus for this budget.
The Government says there will be some cuts
and money moved from programmes that aren't effective,
but we'll have to wait and see where the cuts will be.
For those who want to know what's going to be in the Budget,
a new app has been developed so that people can see
just where the Government is spending tax payers' money
and how it affects them and their families.
Thank you Irena Smith, live from Wellington.
