Typical day was long. It was a lot of hours, cold, wet. Just no one knew what to expect.
There were tunnels filled with water. Contractors weren't pumping them out. Basically it was
like nothing we've ever seen before. When the storm happened this place was dark, cold.
It was just soaked and corroded with salt water. And now in the last few months, we've
brought it back and as you can see lighting is on, the pumps are all working correctly.
With the help of other gangs, the tunnel gangs and us too with the construction guys, we've
all made it come together. The outside contractors have done a great deal themselves. After Sandy
we got power back to here in the 11th Ave Shaft, the majority of the lighting in the
tunnels are all fixed. The electrical service feeders to power all the lights have been
replaced, all new lighting parts. So a lot of improvements, a lot of improvements over
the last four, five months.
