great holiday project for gift-giving or just
for the cold winter months such a great
accessory. the thing about this size is that not only can I do it double
I can also triple it so that's why I wanted
to make mine extra long. So I just had a little bit more options
So lets get going, I'm gonna show you how to make this scarf
okay so here is my the yarn, Lion Brand
6 super bulky. A hook size N
HomeTown USA and I didn't have a size N
hook so I'm using a p and eleven and a half millimeter
you can cut adjuster hook size a little upper level down
and but the bigger hook
is going to be a little larger stitch and also gonna go a bit faster
so here I am gonna do my foundation chain and talk to slip stitch
what not gonna they're the front and then you gonna do your foundation change
see my other crochet videos if you're having trouble with this step
now I did up to about seventy two inches long
and thats a pretty long foundation chain and
so as you saw earlier I'm you can triple
it and customize it but you want to you know
right here you're gonna slip stitch into that end piece
from the beginning are and just be careful not to twist it
and make sure your
foundation chain is straight and then you're going to start doing a half
double crochet
so half double crochet yarn over insert yarn over and pull through all three and out
slips
show you again yarn over insert into that next sit's over
yarn over pull through yarn over
pull through all three loops and I like that double crochet because it's really quick
and it's also got a nice condensed stitch and it will be nice and long
go all the way around for each stitch in the foundation chain here I am coming back
around
to connect this first row
so you can get right in here and then you're gonna see
there's one more stitch that you're gonna need to get I'll show you
right in there is another little guy
you gotta make sure to get you have a nice consistent look
all the way around and their
and so you can really
adjust the side if you want to cut customize this the same way I did mine
very long you won't want the
scarf really any longer than about 70 inches or so
and here you go first stitch there
if you're shorter or if you don't want to be able to triple-a
you can definitely adjust the size and much shorter than seventy inches
you can even get sixty inches i used three skeins of yarn for this
project so that also kinda give your ballpark of how
much yarn you are going to need at least 3 skiens at super bulky
so he go you can see kinda how you gonna be working along
here I'm gonna come to the end and really this is
all you do and continue to half double crochet in each stitch
all the way around how it looking
now if you do when you run out
now first skein I like to tie my two ends together
some crocheters don't like to tie a knot and that's fine I just
want to be extra secure and I don't really find that I noticed the knots
and this is how I do it and so you just gonna
tie your knot and then continue stitching all the way around
and then later when you're all done crocheting your scarf you're gonna go
back through and weave in these
ends that you have so just keep going around sit on the couch watching
movie it will only take maybe an hour or two
and when you get back to this initial
spot where you started and you know I've got
know what is that 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 8
rows here and then when you're doing your last row
you're gonna do with a half double crochet stitch
then you're going there here at the half double crochet
about the right spot to get to the
and even endpoint that i'm gonna do a single crochet
and then a slip stitch just gradually
shorten that stitch so that it does not look like it just lops off
cut your yarn, pull that through
and then a you're gonna leave in your ends. normally I use
tapestry needle but because this yarn is so bulky I just use a smaller size
hook here so be sure to
leaving a comment you have any questions if there is anything that unclear
really customize this to your own taste this was only using 3 skeins of yarn but
only have to you can make it a lot shorter and a little skinnier, you could
use a four skeins and make it real thick and bulky you can use slightly
smaller
yarn you know a size 4 yarn instead of 6
and this really tons of ways that you can customize it I just love the half double
crochet stitch, its one of my favorite stitches
and I hope that you guys I have tons of fun
