Hi, I'm Melina and welcome Expert Village. Today we're going to learn how to make a paper
star lantern. In this next step, we're going to punch light holes through our star points.
Once you have all five star points on your star, you're going to take your hole puncher,
you're going to poke holes all around your star points and you want to be very careful
that you don't poke holes on the edge and the reason why you don't want to do that is
because if you poke too many holes around the edge, the star points are going to lose
their shape and going to start to melt, not melt, take on a different shape. Their going
to twist around and their not going to hold up, their going to close, so you want to make
sure that you don't punch holes on your fold lines, on your edges. You don't want punch
holes in any of these centers fold lines and you don't want to punch holes anywhere where
we have glue. You can poke the holes anywhere you want and I recommend doing about three
or four on each point, on each side of each point, you can do about three or four. You
don't want to go too crazy, because again, if you go, if you go too crazy and put in
too many holes your star is going to sag, it's not going to hold up. I just want to
make sure you have something so that the light pours through.
