Hello everyone.
My name is Jose Betancourt, Solutions Architect and Business Development
Manager at Hewlett Packard. Today, in this Coffee Coaching session,
we're gonna talk about the latest release of HP's VirtualSystem VS3 for
Microsoft. Specifically,
what the product is all about how it benefits your customers.
At HP and Microsoft we understand that customers will evolve to a cloud model
at different speeds. Customers in the earlier stages of the model
will first focus on standardization, consolidation,
and virtualization, while those in the latter stages
understand and leverage the full vision of the cloud, and the possibility
to broker services across many different delivery models.
To help our customers break through
the integration challenges of virtualization and accelerate your journey to the cloud,
HP and Microsoft delivered the HP
VirtualSystem VS3 for Microsoft. Based on join expertise in virtualization and
private cloud, the
HP VirtualSystem VS3 for Microsoft is built to align with Microsoft's Private
Cloud
FastTrack specification. It's a turnkey solution that you can order along with
Windows Server 2012,
System Center 2012 SP1, and HP Factory Express,
an on-site implementation service to quickly build and integrate the complete
solution.
This HP support service ensures that the solution can be fully installed,
configured, and integrated into your existing environment
with minimal effort from your IT staff. Now,
let's understand the key elements that make HP VirtualSystem VS3 for Microsoft
the ideal platform for your journey from virtualization
to a Microsoft based private cloud solution. The first major element
is the Microsoft software stack comprised of Windows Server 2012
and System Center 2012 SP1. Let's first talk about Windows Server 2012.
Windows Server 2012 is truly a cloud OS
with the memory, storage, and live migration scalability
required to support the largest workloads in a virtualized fashion. To
manage a large environment that can be built with Windows Server 2012,
Microsoft provides a complete virtualization and private cloud
management solution
in the form of System Center 2012 SP1.
System Center 2012 SP1 is an integrated management platform that helps you
easily and efficiently
manage your datacenter, client devices, and hybrid cloud IT environments.
System Center 2012 SP1 offers
deep application insight, which combined with a service centric approach
helps IT professionals deliver predictable application service levels.
Customers leverage more of the System Center 2012 SP1 components
as the evolve from a virtualized environment to a cloud service delivery
model.
The second major element is the HP VirtualSystem VS3 for Microsoft itself.
Built on HP's Converged Infrastructure,
it's a platform optimized for cloud deployment. We believe its the industry's best
platform
for supporting the Microsoft private cloud and here's why:
HP's ProLiant Gen8 servers
offer breakthrough management capabilities with the ability to
deploy and update your server infrastructure
three times faster than previous generations and 70% more
compute per watt,
supporting growing numbers of virtualized servers while
helping to ease tight IT budgets. HP's 3Par storage array provides two
times the storage density.
With HP 3Par thin provisioning, thin migration,
and thin persistence, you can effectively double your VM density per
server.
Not only are volumes thinly provisioned, but HP technology keeps them thin
by removing data blocks that represent deleted files
or otherwise empty capacity. HP 3Par
automated data tiering insures the frequently accessed data
resides on the highest-performance storage tier, and moves less frequently accessed
data
to less expensive storage. HP's Virtual Connect and networking provide
2.5 times faster provisioning compared to competitive offerings.
HP Virtual Connect provides the industry's
first direct-attach connection to Fibre Channel storage
without requiring dedicated Fibre Channel switches. This new capability in Virtual
Connect FlexFabric modules
increases the efficiency of server and storage connectivity
by flattening the SAN fabric. In addition to the faster provisioning,
it reduces storage networking costs by 50%
compared to competitive offerings. The third major element is
HP's Insight Control for Microsoft System Center.
Included as a key component in HP's VirtualSystem VS3 for Microsoft,
Insight Control for System Center provides a number of management packs
to bring native manageability of HP hardware
to the Microsoft System Center environment. Licensed and included with HP
Insight Control,
it directly integrates into System Center virtual machine manager,
operations manager, and configuration manager, enabling smarter relocation
of virtual machines,
deep hardware reporting, and integration of drivers and firmware updates into
the System Center patch update cycle.
HP VirtualSystem VS3 for Microsoft has flexible configuration options
while still meeting or exceeding their requirements of the Microsoft Private
Cloud
Fast Track specification. Single or multiple rack configurations are available
depending on the compute, memory, and storage requirements for your virtual
machine environment.
Finally, HP's comprehensive portfolio of consulting and support services
are there to help you in every stage of your IT lifecycle.
In conclusion, HP's VirtualSystem VS3 for Microsoft
is an integrated solution optimized for key workloads,
scales seamlessly, and is the on-ramp to the Microsoft-based cloud.
Thank you for your attention.
