I think the first thing you have to do with a patient is greet them with a smile, sit
down, and listen. And have them tell you their story. And then we talk back and forth. I'll
ask them questions; they'll answer. They'll ask me questions; I'll answer. So it is a
conversation basically.
The treatment of head and neck cancer varies among patients depending on where their tumor
is located. how advanced it is, and it may be a combination of chemotherapy, radiotherapy,
and surgery or one of the three. So that collaboration, we all have to be talking - the doctors - talking
to each other so we're all in synch for the patient's benefit.
