Hi I'm Anna from Telstra and in these series of videos
I'll be showing you how to get started with your new EasyTouch 4G.
To skip to the next or previous video in the series,
use the YouTube buttons below.
The Telstra EasyTouch 4G is a continuation of the successful
EasyTouch range of phones. That were designed to be easy to use.
So lets get started.
To check the battery life of your EasyTouch 4G
look for the battery indicator this will tell you how much charge
you have left, once it becomes red you will need to connect
your phone to your charger. It may take up to 4 hours
to fully charge your battery using the supplied wall charger.
Your new smart phones however run much more sophisticated features
and have a big bright screen, compared to traditional feature
phones which may have lasted 3 days before needing to be charged.
so you will need to charge your phone more regularly.
Emails and some applications like the Internet Browser or
Maps require connecting to the Internet,
and therefore will use your data allowance that is part of most plans.
We recommend you to check with your Telstra whether
you have enough data for the activities you plan to do,
and how best to monitor your data usage.
You can do this by using the Telstra 24x7 app,
which is downloadable from the Google PlayStore.
Or as a Telstra customer, log in and create a My Account
on Telstra.com to manage your account and check your data usage.
If you want to conserve your mobile data allowance,
you can also connect to the Internet via a WiFi network.
You may have a WiFi network set up at home,
or many coffee shops operate them for free.
To access WiFi on your smartphone,
from your home screen simply swipe to the right,
select the WiFi button and turn your receiver on.
Once that's done, the handset will scan for available WiFi networks
and display a list of them.
Select the one that you would like to connect to,
type in the password and press connect.
If you have WiFi at home, you can leave this setting on
and this way your phone will automatically connect to the network
when you are there. When you're not at home or using Wi-Fi,
you can turn the receiver on your phone off
to preserve your battery life.
If you will be travelling overseas, and you are concerned about your
phone accessing the Internet, your first point of call should
be the telstra.com/overseas website which is packed full of helpful
hints and tips. One such hint is to make sure that your data
roaming setting is turned off.
You can check this through Settings, under Wireless Networks,
select more, than mobile networks, once your in the menu
make sure data roaming is unchecked.
Alternatively you can call Telstra for free
from within Australia any time of day from your
Telstra mobile or home phone to find out more.
Smartphones run on smart software and they keep getting smarter
so to keep your phone's software maintained,
you may sometimes receive Software Update notifications,
which will appear in your notification bar.
By choosing to download and install, you can be assured that your
phone will always run on the most up to date version of
the operating software. Follow the on prompts onscreen
and the phone will do most of the process automatically.
