bjbjD It was called Heritage House. Like a lot of nursing homes, they change their names
and it s hard to know who did what and I m sure it will eventually go back to Heritage
so it will confuse any auditor but it was called Heritage House. It was there was a
movement in the late 60 s to get people out of institutions. A lot of disabled people
were put into institutions. There was some abuses particularly back east and some reforms
so the intent was to get people out of institutions. And at that time there weren t community based
services so a lot of people went from state institutions to nursing homes. And at this
particular nursing home, the owner was an interesting guy and he wanted to do something
good and he formed a wing, he used a wing of this nursing home for younger disabled
people. Of course he got harassed unmercifully by a number of people who were involved in
the movement early on. But I think his intentions were good. Why have younger disabled people
among the geriatric population? Get them together; at least there are some commonalities with
age and disability. It was called Heritage House Owner Normal Owner Microsoft Office
