Hello everybody tHIS is your English Teacher Sevi from www.sevischool.com,
the best place to learn and improve your English and gain self confidence in speaking.
Welcome to my New Teaching Tip:) Recently, I noticed that my students struggle
with the use "suggest". In this Teaching Tip I would like to teach you the correct use
of the verb "suggest". Are you ready? Let's get started:)
We use "suggest" when we mention an idea or action for other people to consider. For example
I suggest swimming when it's too hot. or I suggest that you swim when it's too hot.
I can't say I suggest you to swim. Never! Because suggest is never followed by an object
pronoun or an infinitive. Let's give another example.
I suggest that eNGLISH Learners watch movies with English subtitles. Or
I suggest watching movies with English subtitles. I can't say:
I suggest English Learners to watch movies with subtitles. Never ever!
