To create a sort of DNA of design that when is crossed with a commission, Works to create a family of products.
Create standard methodologies for non standard solutions
Basically all of these is experimentation
Massive personalization.
I believe that nowadays we are being defined as a design company which works in the "digital crafting" area,
of parametric design, digital manufacture, the study and use of techniques that are part of Chilean craft tradition with its materials.
Always starts from a personal restlessness, which we have called “obsession”.
We design a rule that can design things, that when crosses with a requirement brings an object.
The inspiration always comes from the inside, pretty much from the “I want to do”
We have a phrase “Let’s do something, but let’s do it right the way”
They born from a personal question, from the personal obsession, from a need that somehow can be defined as perfection.
Getting to know the processes that help you to understand how things are built, how they are made.
Our “tour of design”, has more than a year. This started in Argentina, Stockholm, Milan, London, India, Cologne and Paris.
Before I use to start a conversation with a gallery owner, introducing myself as “designer”
later I introduced myself as a “Chilean designer”, so her/his first question was… what are you doing here? That gave me the opportunity of saying more things.
The same experiences in the firsts fairs made us “drop” all those thing that we used to hide,
start taking from the inside where we were standing and what we really wanted to showed.
Whenever we show a more complex product, that has to do with Alpaca wool or with bronze foundry,
we have the chance of showing all the things that we know to do, then we step apart from the strategic discourse of selling the product
and we change it for the discourse of selling what is in our minds.
As we’re facing the Salone Satellite, through pieces that allow us to speak about our discourse.
We will present things that show a kind of combination that we are achieving,
in other words materials melted with Fair trade wood, digital printing with tessellate programming that latter are made in stoneware.
And a shelve system that is also a wall at the same time.
Being together with this group of Chilean designers is to show that you’re not alone in the world,
but that you are part of people that share interests and territory, and show your heterogeneity,
but deeply if you make a finer reading, you will find the connections between all the different designers.
You can say that Chile has really good designers, people with something to propose in the international scene.
