Hey What's Up Guys! Welcome to another episode from Tasty Sauces dot com
And if you can tell from the flag in the back we are doing some Texas style Salsa tasting today.
If you didn't see the videos from yesterday we did El Fenix Hot Sauce versus Walt Garrison Hot Sauce and
I highly recommend checking that out.
But today we got On The Border Salsa versus Pace Picante Sauce.
case the card
On The Border actually started off their first restaurant in Dallas, Texas in
1982
since then they've blown up
to over 160 restaurants internationally.
and when you think of On The Border you definitely think of their chips and hot sauce so
we definitely wanted to give them a little taste test and in contrast we got Pace
Picante Sauce
This is another Texas company starting off in San Antonio
but they have never had any kind of Mexican restaurant. They specifically make salsas
and have been making the Picante Hot Sauce from the beginning.
Actually
they started off in 1947 from a guy named David Pace
I believe the plant was off I-35 and Coliseum in San Antonio
and the rumor is that they
cut up so many jalapenos and onions 24/7
that you couldn't even drive by the plant without having your eyes water.
So let's go test the salsas out and see.
So On The Border Salsa, just taking a look at it.
you know they got their mild, medium, and hot.
I picked for the hot because I like the spicier things.
Judging from the color of it, it's a little brown in color but definitely rich in
tomatoes and there are some jalapenos in there.
and
from the label it looks like they have some sugar in there
sugar, salt and other spices. But let's go ahead pour it out
and take a look
Oh yeah
see this is a chunkier salsa
Just taking a look at it right there
you definitely see some big chunks and you got some runniness in there
Its definitely
a good salsa for dipping chips in
It has a real pleasant taste. Nothing is to over powering.
Nothing is too spicy I would say
Let me try a couple more
before I give you my
feedback
Pretty good salsa
as far as spiciness
I was expecting a little bit more heat from it. It is the hottest of their varieties.
On a 1 to 10 scale,
I would have to give this about a 5 on the spicy scale.
You are not going to find too many people who are going to have
bad reactions to this
Overall, pretty tasty
On a 1 to 5 scale,
5 being my favorite
I would probably give it about a 3.5
And over here we got the Pace Picante Sauce
They kind of have their own little signature
bottle type. Its got the curves there. It is supposed to be tip proof.
But I don't know how that is going to work out.
Let's go ahead
and pour some of that out there
This definitely looks
runnier and more pureed
than the On The Border brand.
kind of hard to make out what is in there but I can definitely see some jalapenos, onions
definitely some tomatoes from the red color
Let's see if this one is any spicier
I detect just a slight bit more heat
On The Border was definitely sweeter, you could tell they got sugar in there.
This one is a little bit more spicier
So I guess it all depends on what your personal preference is.
As far as the spicy scale
I would probably give this one a
6 out of 10 rating
Right up there with El Fenix
And as far as my personal preference
I have had Pace my whole life so it is not going to wow me but
it's a pretty rock-solid 4 so I would definitely recommend it
if you're going to look
but if you guys have tried these, definitely put your comments below
and make sure to tune into tomorrow for another episode.
