Hello. I like to show you a new device i have created.
The BAUM CBDT-1 Circuit bending development tool.
The intention of this device is to teach the basics of circuit bending and reading datasheets.
Here we have a volume control. The Sound output . Power connector
The yellow button is on. The green button is off.
Printed on the device you see a Microchip, wich i will explain later, And a you can see a small bar with lots of patchable contacts.
Some of them are covered. But that i will also explain later.
This is a small Led wich blinks as long as the device is on. And is off as soon as it is off ...
I try to show you how it works using all this as i have imagined it...
I can show the content of my Ipad wireless on a TV over a Apple TV. Very useful to show something and stay mobile.
This Vtech genius junior profi speaking toy is inside of the Black box.
The Thing on top is a chip wich is the memory of the Toy inside of the box. Its labeled like in the datasheet.
Every pin of this chip is connected to a port of the bay on the right. You can easy access every pin.
I have covered the last pin (28) with som sticky tape to prevent the user from using it. It is the main voltage of the cip and schould not be patched anywhere.
You can remove this tape and patch it but i do NOT recommend this!
Here you can see the matching datasheet. Its very useful to have something visual to explain.
Here you can see the inner circuit of the chip. Just to show how it theoretically works. You can directly see waht you are patching.
Super easy to get started... Just connect a headphone jack and power...
The yellow button starts the device , and you will hear the normal sound of it.
You can take those small patchwires and freely patch everything you want on he small patchbay.
You can directly hear waht is happening.
For example ... bla bla bla ... plug your thing in anywhere you want ...
You have the direct feeling of succes without even soldering or opening a device. Forcing you to try it by yourself.
In combination with the datasheet it is a nice solution for beginners to learn by doing something ...
Of course the demonstration or modification can be made better over the time but its a start.
Those talking computers are perfect for beginners. Cheap and easy to bend. You will find them on fleamarkets and Ebay .
Thanks for watching. And i hope you got some inspiration for your Projects. . Greetings from BAUM
