I left after my junior year actually. Coming out of high school I knew I wanted to be an
engineer and that’s why I always pursued and wanted to come back and finish my degree.
It was always that back up in case baseball never worked out, so I always wanted to go
back and finish it and I'm glad I can be here today and say that I accomplished it. The
thing is, I think he is perfectly right in that regard, baseball will go at some point.
That’s been a great accomplishment but this is much better. It's much more astounding
the fact that he has been able to realize his engineering degree. Many people back home
said he couldn't do both, that there was no way in the world that he could go to school
and achieve this level of learning, but he's done it now. I got the call back in the middle
of July. That was not only extremely exciting but I knew I was pretty much set in time for
graduating in December. I think accomplishing two goals in 2011 was pretty cool. Binghamton
was such a big supporter in the department in order for him to get his degree. They just
cheered him on. This school has meant so much to me. I think it was very important to come
back and take part in all of this. I know a lot of baseball players don't get a chance
to walk in May because it's during the season. I think it's kind of cool to participate in
it. Go bearcats!
