Hello, I'm Bruce Zimmerman Host of the Open Line Garden Show and Certified
Horticulturalist for Rittenhouse.ca
Today we are going to take a look at Sarritor Backpack.
Now, the Sarritor backpack can also be used to apply for other granular herbicides and
granular fertilizers.
It has a plastic and stainless steel construction.
The lid is a snap lid.
and so it will simply snap off.
Now, it has a very wide mouth
as you can see.
And it will
hold nineteen litres of material.
Now, the lid is a snap lid, So make sure you do get it on nice and tight.
The straps are wide
durable
very adjustable.
When you get your Sarritor Backpack
the ribbed tube and the wand will not be attached. So what you do you take a
screwdriver
and use the gear clamp to attach the ribbed tube here.
and then come down and attached the wand here.
Now if you need to you can adjust the length of the ribbed tube
depending on the
height of the person doing the application or the application itself.
The wand
is
all assembled for you
from this point down.
So once you are attached you're basically ready to go.
It is a thumb control.
The Sarritor comes all the way down
and is loaded to the tip point.
So that when you do use the thumb control it is an instantaneous drop.
You can adjust the amount being applied
simply by adjusting these two knobs here. One locks the other into position
So that when you're working it doesn't loosen off.
And that means that the amount being
applied will
always be consistent.
Very easy and lightweight
which is a very good thing when you're doing
a lot of work over a
long period time.
Now there are a lot of people who like the Sarritor Flick Stick
and there he is a retrofit for this backpack.
And what we've done is we've taken and made the Flick Stick available to
attach to your ribbed tube.
You attach it here. Again the Sarritor goes all the way down
to this point here.
Now with this one all you do is touch
like this.
And right here is where the Sarritor comes out. Now the trick is you want to keep it
tipped up.
So that it's a couple of inches above the plant.
Why? because you're applying this in early morning or moist conditions
and you want to keep this area dry.
If not what happens as it gets gucky and gummed up
and then you'll have to stop and clean it.
So keep it tipped up a couple inches above the plant
and just keep
going until of course it's all gone.
Whichever wand you prefer. It doesn't really matter they're both great.
