When I was little, when people asked me what do you want to be when you grow up? I would
say a Disney princess, like always, like that's your dream, so and for me to kind of be able
to say that I got to do that is like so exciting.
It's true, little girls really do dream of being a Disney princess, and Elle Fanning
gets her chance in new Disney release Maleficent. She plays Princess Aurora alongside Angelina
Jolie's hauntingly gorgeous interpretation of Maleficent herself. But playing Princess
Aurora as a toddler is none other than Angelina's own five-year-old daughter Vivienne-
and it seems the decision to cast her was easy.
It came naturally because we didn't want her to be in a film, don't want to push our children
to be actors, but there were a few little kids that came to set and every time they
saw me they'd scream and one little boy said: 'Mummy tell the mean witch to stop talking
to me.' So, they really were, I couldn't, so we couldn't really cast somebody who would
be loving towards a monster, but Vivienne is that little girl that kind of clings to
her mum no matter what I'm doing and so she was unfazed by me being very mean and even
my character says to her: 'I don't like children, go away' and she just smiles and thinks that's great.
Not sure we'd want to feel the wrath of Angelina - acting or not. Maleficent hits cinemas on
the 28th of May.
