I can't imagine the world without my phone. When I leave my phone, I feel like I'm naked.
My childhood was spent in Uganda until I was 10.
I lived in the refugee camp.
Studying online made my goals possible. I have a two year old son and a job.
My husband definitely assisted me in succeeding in my education.
After the wedding
and having a baby,
we try to balance everything.
As an interpreter, I speak five different languages. Therefore, my phone is with me everywhere.
I believe technology is a language. My Ashford advisor, he was a great coach.
And then it became like, "Oh! This is doable."
My classmates, even though I had never met them in person, I felt like I was
part of the community, based on the relationship we had online.
It's very important to do what you love.
I loved doing those papers. I loved reading.
So on my way to work or my home, I'll do some studying in the metro.
I felt like I was the only one there, sort of in my own world.
Studying at Ashford University gave me a chance to go on controlled time, versus time controlling me.
There's no more excuses, saying, "I have to be in class and then be at work at the same time."
Or, "I have to be with my family."
As long as you have it within your heart, technology makes it possible.
