Your name? Michael Stern. And what did you think about Tom North's presentation today?
I found it very interesting - I had no idea
about his history of his family abuse and
it is very sad! You know it's like you expect one thing from the movie
and you would hope that's what is going to be you know
happiness and everything in it wasn't was pretty sad.
I still will enjoy the movie for what it was in is still one of my favorite movies
but now I know there's a deep inside story
that needed to be told I'm glad it was told. Now you had a personal
relationship with Lucille Ball yourself.
Please tell me a little bit about that. I was a fan of Lucille Ball.
She used to call me her number one fan and the very first time I ever saw her
was not on I Love Lucy or any of the Lucy shows - it was actually in the movie
Yours, Mine and Ours
and I thought she was the perfect mom she was
funny, she was beautiful looking in and what a
great story with you know eight kids in ten kids and they got married...
it was just a fun story and that's how I fell in love with Lucy!
I actually sat through the entire movie and I made my parents take me back
four days later to see it again. That's how much I loved the Lucy in the
Yours Mine and Ours movie.
So you wrote a book about your relationship with Lucy. What's that called?
It's called "I Had a Ball - My Friendship with Lucille Ball".
Not only was I a big huge fan
but I got to meet her and she was nice to me
like see me one time she gave me a kiss and signed an autograph but then she
happened to see me over and over again
and she said you know you could be my number one fan but you better get a job
and stay in school. So I did I got a job working at a department store
she actually came from her house in Beverly Hills to the San Fernando Valley
where I live
to make sure that I was working and then she said okay
you're working - do you play backgammon? I said no. She said you'll learn.
She gave me her phone number to her house and I went to her house
3-4 days a week and we played backgammon.
Cool that's great! Yes she was fantastic!
Hey thanks for sharing your story! Well I appreciate it.
Thank You.
