(Arabic) May peace be upon you all.
My name is Waad Ibrahim Osman, I'm 12 years old,
and I study in 7th grade in Khartoum Basic School.
Before I start all my boring talk,
I'd like you all to close your eyes.
Please!
Let's say you were on a summer vacation,
and you were really tired of going to school and work,
and you were lying down
or you were reading a book,
and then suddenly, BOOM! Bombs explode!
You're panicking! You go outside
and you see what's going on,
you find dead bodies and blood- covered roads, you're still panicking!
You see one side, you find your parents dead.
You look at the other side, you find your friends dead.
And out of nowhere, you find me dead!
(Cheers) (Applause)
If you got to change this, what would you do?
I started talking about wars because I've read
and I've watched many wars happening these days.
Though I have no right to say it now,
cause I'm still a kid, just give me a few more years,
these wars are so stupid!
(Laughter) (Applause)
They just kill people,
make governments pay billions of dollars,
and just destroy cities for nothing.
Why do they cause wars?
Because... sorry...
Wars are caused for a lot of reasons.
Some reasons are because the people want their rights.
Like in Egypt, Syria, and Libya.
But the president won't just give it to them.
And in some countries, they wanna conquer them.
Or, there is a problem between them,
like in North Korea and South Korea.
And they also wanna conquer the country
for the best things, for what they got, like when the British,
no offense to the British watching, (Laughter)
when they conquered Sudan for the fertile land
so that they can grow something,
I don't know what yet,
if you know please contact me.
(Laughter)
Do you know what they do?
In some countries like in China,
they go to each house of a family,
and they ask a man from each family to go to war
for the sake of their country.
It's something honourable, but wanna know what happens?
99% of them know nothing about war.
So, the first second they're there, they're dead.
So, what's the use?
How can we stop this killing and destroying cities.
Like, they're are two reasons.
If it's a war is between the people and their president,
like the countries I've already mentioned,
the government can do two things:
either force the president to do something,
or hold him by the shirt
and say, "Sayonara Mr.President".
(Applause)
Or if it's a war between two countries, you can make a treaty.
A treaty is like a contract between countries.
Like the treaty of Versailles which is this one right here.
That was written in 1918.
But when I first heard that a country signed it,
I thought they brought everybody in the country,
made them hold a really large pen,
and end up doing this. (Laughter)
But it turned out to be boring politicains doing it.
These boring politicians come from
Germany, Italy, France, The US, and Japan.
And there are other ways to stop wars,
but these are my ideas.
Thank you everybody.
(Applause)
