Hi, today we're going to talk about how to dress retro regarding the '50s era. Now the
'50s follow the end of World War II where there had been rationing on all sorts of things
including fabric. And so women's style really sort of exploded in terms of fashion and fabric
use in the '50s. There were two main periods. The early '50s focused on more of like a poodle
skirts look, the kind of thing you think of when you think of maybe the movie Grease,
and the latter part, which moved toward the more streamline, hourglass look with pencil
skirts, similar to what I'm wearing now. So we're going to talk about that, we're going
to talk about accessories, shoes, dresses, all sorts of different things that people
wore in the '50s. A lot of the elements of style that were initially introduced in the
50s are still really popular today. So you might find yourself dressing retro but actually
fully in style for what comes off of the runways today. The '50s is really a great decade as
far as classic style looks and classic style pieces. So we're going to go through all of
that, in addition to jewelry, in addition to shoes, anything you could really want to
know about dressing in the '50s.
