I started a charity, C the difference - Corey Cares
and I raise money for our local food pantry
and buy and donate the food.
The food pantry tells us what they need each month
and I spend a $100 in the supermarket
and then I go and stock the shelves with what they needed.
I saw short film called Hard Time on Long Island
which was a documentary
and it showed many people who you don't even
know are in bad positions
but they are going to the food pantry
and after I saw it as just like
I really need to help and it just sparked this.
In order to start my charity I spent my own money
to purchased these bracelets, they say
C the difference
and on the back
they say Corey Cares.
I sell the sell these for whatever donation
people are willing to give
and then I give them as many bracelets as they want.
For example we've gotten donations from $5 to $500
and I give them bracelets for the family.
No matter how much does every dollar really does help.
It makes me feel amazing
one time when we were stocking the shelves
in the food pantry there was actually people taking food
and just to see the smiles on their faces
seeing what I was doing
really made me feel what I was doing was awesome.
I am hoping I will
inspire others to volunteer because
when I get past my
last of year high school
I don't know if I'll be able to take it on anymore
and I wanna pass it on to someone younger
so it keeps going.
