At this point, things are looking pretty good. There's a lot of on this page that we can
leverage in order to provide a look like the mockup and it looks like a lot of functionality
is pretty similar. But we do have a number of specific changes that we need to make.
Let's go ahead and start tackling those. And we'll start with a few things that will help
give our site some identity as we begin to work on some of the more difficult problems
of the site.
Let's go ahead and begin by changing the logo. Now if you didn't have somebody to help guild
you to the correct page and you'd never used Drupal before, chances are your next step
would be clicking around various links to try to find the page where you can change
the logo. So I want to take you on a quick tour of this administration bar up here so
that you can get a sense of how it's structured and how you would go about finding other pages
you don't know the location of.
To begin with, these are top level elements in what might be called a hierarchical tree
of pages. So when you go to the content page, let's go ahead and click on that, you'll that
we're on one page but there's also tabs here on the upper right that show us additional
pages. We can also click "Add content" here to go to another page. So we can actually
access several pages by going to this one link in the administration bar.
If we click "Structure", for example; I'm clicking structure up here, you'll see that
there a sub navigation below. And we can click on these various elements to go to a page
that also includes additional pages. For example, you see tabs up here, "BARTIK" and "SEVEN",
and you see the "Add block" link as well. So this is even one more tier. If we click
"Appearance", we also have tabs in the upper right hand corner and then we have a page
that includes several links to go deeper into settings and options.
The text of the links in the administration bar also give an important clue as to what
can be found inside of them. For example, you can see here that we're in the appearance
section because it's highlighted among the other links here. And chances are, if we're
going to change the logo which has something to do with the appearance, this would be the
place to do it.
Now if you wanted a sense of what all of the pages were that exist under this hierarchy,
you could at least display one level lower by going to the breadcrumbs, which you see
at the top of every administration page and clicking on "Administration". This leads you
to a page that basically mimics what you see at the very top except it includes descriptions
of each link. If you wanted to see even more, you can click on this "INDEX" tab in the upper
right hand corner and from this page you can see that you can get to a few more links that
you can't get to in the administration toolbar. So if you scroll down you'll see we have just
quite a few more options here.
Ok, I'm going to jump back to the appearance page, because our goal here is to change the
logo.
