It is really important to have a teacher that can show you the way of practice
That's why practicing monks look out a lot for Teachers.
Not so for monks who are studying. I've studied. They study along the texts of the canon
They also respect their teachers, but not in the same way.
About Maha (another monk present) I'm not so sure
He might study really hard.
But at my times I really studied like a dog
Teaching Dhamma then becomes really easy
Whatever you want to talk about, you can say it
if you want to teach according to the texts, you can do it,
if according to practice, I can do it. I can do it both ways.
But if somebody only studied, he then can only teach according to the texts
but if one hears it from Kruba Ajahns, though it is the same topic, it will differ,
for here the Dhamma comes from the heart, that is experienced in practice.
When it comes from the heart it weighs more, and the listener will appreciate it more.
A scholar cannot move, for the heaviness of his knowledge,
but in truth he is weighed down so much by his conceit
He is so weighed down by his own cleverness, that he cannot move
but if he falls, he will fall worse than a monkey
Although the Lord Buddha knew everything, he did not attach to it
he was not conceited, having only metta, that's why he got through to the people
We are intested in listening to Dhamma, but when practice starts, we
think don't bother me with this now. I'll do it later.
Do you understand?
In truth you need somebody to force you
if you don't have anybody to force you, you won't do it.
He explains part of the Bhikkhu vinaya
about receiving money...
if a bhikkhu receives it with his body, its a heavy offence and
he has to throw it away instantly...
if he reseive money..
the pali states it.
or if somebody receives it for him
he falls into an offence
and he must immediately get rid of it or throw it away. That's what is written in the Bhikkhu vinaya
bring more, ask your mother to bring some more...
