Welcome to Expert Village. I'm Gretchen Soares and today we're going to do How to Shop for
a Baby Shower Gift. Okay, and there's always the ever-popular baby clothes, especially
for girls, are a lot of fun. Although I will say that manufacturers are doing a much better
job of making cute clothes for boys, too. So, if you'll recall, we're in a used or recycled
children's clothes store. What I would do in this case is, unless I know the mom really
well and know that she would dig recycled clothing, I would look through - because most
shops are going to have recycled clothing, but they're also going to have clothes that
are new with tags that people just didn't get an opportunity to put on their children.
So if you pick through, you're going to find clothes that still have tags on them. And
especially in the smaller sizes, nine month and under. That would make a great gift. So
here's a cute set, a little bloomer set with sandals. Great springtime gift, very cute.
Six month size, which is great because, like we've been saying, you don't want to get too
much in the smaller size. Personally, I don't like getting anything that's too summery unless
you live in a climate where this is just absolutely appropriate. Because it's hard to tell when
the baby's going to be in that piece of clothing. So, this is a three month size. If I were
to get this for a baby born in December, chances are the baby's not going to wear that in the
right season, and so it's really going to be a waste. I like to stay closer to something,
either warm - because the babies always get cold easily - or a little more temperate.
A little short sleeve. Something like this is great. It's a long sleeve dress but it's
made out of a lightweight knit. So it's going to be good in a variety of different seasons
and weather conditions.
