A couple of thousand years ago, when ancient Chinese applied the hot stone to painful area,
they find out the pain and other discomfort are relieved. So, they accumulated this information
about the local points that's called shuxue point meaning wherever you have pain, you
applied the pressure or the hot stone there. Then, by accident, they applied the hot stone
unto other area, the remote area which is far away from local points, they also get
a relieve from the pain. That's called a remote points. The accumulated information about
the local points and the remote points and combine them together to form meridian theory.
In meridian theory, all the points are connected with the different channels and those channels
connected with internal organs, and also go through the body service. So there are four
hundred, more than four hundred points on these meridians. And that's how the meridian
theory first created. And those meridian theory also combine with basic philosophy, Yin and
Yang theory to explain how acupuncture works.
