Austin, Texas resident Dr. Liesa Harte’s involvement with United Way during college introduced her to many physicians. She abandoned accounting for medicine.
Medical school disenchanted her with it’s narrow focus of diagnosing diseases quickly and treating ill patients with drugs.
“I wanted to figure out why people got sick and intervene so they didn’t get sick,” says Dr. Harte.
But medical school, she says, “is all about how quickly can you see how many patients, and decide what drug to prescribe. That’s it. Get in, get out.”
Dr. Harte researched alternative medical options to her patients, and recently became one of only 141 doctors certified in ‘Functional Medicine’.
Functional Medicine combines high and low tech approaches to assess and treat disease, and educate patients on changes needed to live a longer, healthier life.
“My practice is called Elite Care and I treat everyone as if they’re elite,” says Dr. Harte. “I love teaching, and I’m teaching lessons they will never lose”
Dr. Harte is currently licensed to practice medicine in California, Texas, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. To learn more about Dr. Liesa Harte, visit: http://drliesa.com.
