The aircraft was conceived in 1940. From that date onwards, the aircraft was developped in different versions without rudder pedals.
That makes it a bi-control aircraft, it has a steering wheel like a car. It was intended to get people into the air with a minimum of training.
10 hours in flight sufficed in those days to be able to fly this aircraft.
A revolutionary feature of the aircraft was the nose wheel rather than a tail wheel.
You cannot perform aerobatics with the aircraft, it is incapable of spinning.
If you do enter a spin, I don't know how you'd get out of it. I don't think you can, but I never tried.
This is my second Ercoupe, my first one was OO-AIA which I bought in 1972.
I had to sell it after 7 or 8 years, but the love for the Ercoupe remained.
Therefore, I kept looking to find another Ercoupe.
Then I found this one, the last remaining in Belgium, parked here in Antwerp for a long time in Hangar B, together with OO-AIA.
Great, isn't it? We have 7 Ercoupes here, ...
...the eighth one had to leave again yesterday, but we achieved our new record.
2 came from England and 2 from Sweden, one of which we call "Lindberg" and which has attended all 4 Ercoupe meetings.
This is strange because it takes him 10 to 11 hours to get here.
The others are German which are here for the first time, except D-EJOR, ...
...which already came for our first fly in, this is our fourth edition.
