Today on this 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we are going to install part number 13051 from
Curt. As shown here, we have the hitch installed. Now we will give you a couple of measurements
that will help you out in ing accessories for your vehicle. From the top of the receiver
tube down to the ground is going to be 16-3/4 inches. And from the center of the hitch pin
hole out to the edge of the bumper itself is going to be about 8 inches. 0:19
We are going to show you attaching points starting on the passenger side of the vehicle.
There are two bolts that hold the tank shield in place and the hitch actually uses those
two original fastening points. However, there is a third one that is close behind the bumper,
underneath the bumper cover itself, that is very hard to see. A lot of people miss that
bolt hole. So you want to take a look for that one at the end of the frame. It is going
to be identical on both sides of the vehicle. You also want to make sure that the holes
that are in the frame are cleaned out. To clean out the threads here, we are going to
spray it down with some lubricant and then use one of the hitch bolts to help start and
clean out the threads. Now you want to run it in a few turns and back it off and start
all over again and spray it down some more. And the more corroded the threads are the longer this is going to take. 0:58
