The best thing about CHOICES —we've been doing it a pretty long time—
is that I'm getting girls now coming to Lehigh and involved in SWE
and telling me that they came to Lehigh to be an engineer because they did CHOICES.
The gratification of knowing that it's working,
and that not only are girls coming to Lehigh but they're coming to Lehigh to be engineers.
And, who knows how many other girls are going to be engineers at other schools?
It's great to know that we are having a direct impact and that what we're doing here is contributing to the field as a whole.
I got involved in SWE my freshman year because when I was in 8th grade I actually came to CHOICES myself.
I knew that they put it on and so I went to the meetings and I got to know the President,
and that's how I got involved in the Exec Board.
So, now I'm really involved in SWE.
But, just knowing other girls that are in my major sort of got me involved.
I think science and engineering are really cool,
and I think it's a great direction to go in.
I hope you all do that, and I hope we've been a good step along the way.
The reason that we want to have you here like this on a yearly basis is, you know,
26% of women that we have in Lehigh Engineering, most of them are also in the top 26%.
So, they are doing really, really well.
We would like to encourage any of you to consider science engineering as a possible path for yourself in your future.
So, don't let anybody tell you that engineering is for boys or anything like that because it's total nonsense.
I think it's allowing the girls to see that science can have true applications,
that engineering can be fun,
that these young women who are engineers are not a bunch of geeks but they're just normal pretty girls
who would have a real life out there, and that being brainy and smart is cool also.
Two girls that we were working with this morning were just like, "This is so cool,"
and that's great to see because I loved that kind of thing when I was in middle school, and it was kind of weird.
But, now they know it's cool because we love it, other girls love it,
and it's great that they can now hopefully pursue it.

Wow, that's really amazing.
You guys are incredible engineers.
18 eggs dropped, 15 survived and only three broke.
That's really good.
[ Applause ]
That's better than me carrying them home from the grocery store.
