Shozindo is a peaceable martial art.
The practitioners learn to ward off attacks through evasion or backing off.
Children are made aware of correct postures
and supportive breathing.
This avoids dangerous pressure on joints
and potential long-term musculoskeletal disorders.
Young children learn to concentrate and sit still
as well as playfully build self-confidence and to set boundaries.
Adolescents learn to deal with their body,
stretching, strengthening and mobilisation exercises activate the flowing of energy
and help to attain an ergonomic, back-friendly posture.
Kata training is part of every class,
which promotes orientation, balance and spatial imagination.
Techniques using a fist - seen as a sign of violence - are consciously avoided during the first years.
In fighting exercises the focus lies on reaction and control.
The exercises require concentration, conscious movement, discipline and control.
Every movement and technique should be executed precisely and with a clear expression;
including the necessary tension, correct posture and suitable breathing.
Shozindo means: improved physical and mental fitness, better body awareness,
greater self-confidence and calmness as well as heightened ability to concentrate.
Further training seminars for adults happen once in spring and in fall.
In addition, our highlight occurs every summer in France where we train (mostly) outdoors for one week.
Black belt promotions are performed there exclusively.
Shozindo is a traditional martial "art", not a sport.
According to the individual situation the focus can be on the physical aspect
as well as the mental aspect.
The goal is to improve body awareness and
heighten perception of the self as well as the environment.
Gijutsu yori shinjutsu (技術より心術) - Spirituality more than technology
With older people, coordination abilities
as well as perception abilities improve visibly.
These exercises, which were developed specifically for Shozindo, help to regain a natural posture.
Detrimental movements and reaction patterns of the individual are changed step by step.
Not only technical abilities are considered for promotions, but also
the pursuit of the 4 basic Shozindo principles: regard/attention, reservation, respect and rigor.
