Hello, I'm James Martin
They are the trade shows of Reed MIDEM for music and the TV business
Main goals?
Running through blogs, trying to get them established or
Developed as industry exchange and knowledge centers
And basically use all the content from our shows,
Conference videos, white papers, all sorts of things like that
To create buzz around the events all year-round
But also not so much the events, themselves, but just
Create communities around TV and music
Day to day challenges?
The two communities are very different
The music professionals are very much into social media
We’ve got a big Twitter following,
we’ve got about 2,000 people on the music thing
That almost runs by itself
The TV professionals aren’t so connected
We only have about 700 Twitter followers
So those people really need to be pushed to contribute
To take part in the conversation,
so a big challenge there is getting people to guest post on the blogs
and contribute to our Facebook groups, LinkedIn groups..
What really counts is that the people -
The directors, my bosses – have now finally understood
How important it is for their brands to be on social media
We had our last TV market in October,
And I just noticed that there’s one guy that goes to all the conferences,
Tweets about them, and gets re-tweeted a lot,
So a pretty influential guy but is just doing it off his own back
So when we got back from the event I got in touch with him
And said, would you like to guest post for the blog,
And he said yes, and that was it.
He’s just done his first guest post, it was really good
And he’s really keen to do more
