How to attain submission (Khushoo) in your prayers
Glorification of Allah outside ones prayer
is what causes a person to be humbled when standing before his lord in prayer/salaah
Verily, standing before Allah (in prayer) is an honor.
An honour which is not given to everybody
To clarify, when night falls and most of the creation returns to their beds
Most people lay restlessly in their beds for a while with the intention of falling asleep. This occurs in everybody whether it be male, female, young or old.
When this one finds he can’t sleep he goes and switches on the TV, while the other starts calling people and as for the third he grabs a book and starts reading and so forth.
However, know that there are people who would go to make wudu and faces the Qibla, standing before their lord (in night prayer).
It is therefore a certainty that this person is an honourable one in the sight of his lord.
If he was not beloved to Allah, Allah would have not caused him to departure and separate from his bed in favour of standing before his lord.
An example of this is a man who is called and informed in the middle of the night that the king is calling him.He would obviously be filled with joy and tell all his relatives.
He would be proud and flattered that the king himself called him in the middle of the night to converse with this individual
This person would be certain that the king contacted him due to his statues in the king’s heart.
So, when a person leaves his bed in order to stand before his lord, know that this is a clear indication of the love Allah has for this servant .
Who gave this servant the success of standing before his lord in the darkness of the night? Who is the one who planted this Idea in the servant’s heart? Who is the one who made this act of worship beloved to this servant? (Allah)
Therefore, whoever glorifies the status of Allah in his heart,Allah make acts of obedience easy for him.
As for the one who does not give Allah his true/rightful statutes in his heart, he will be let down (by Allah).
When a person knows/understands the great benefits of prayer, he automatically restrains himself from acts of disobedience in fear of creating a barrier between him and hid lord.
Allah says in the quraan: “And during night, prostrate yourself to Him (i.e. the offering of Maghrib and 'Ishâ' prayers), and glorify Him a long night through (i.e. Tahajjud prayer) (26)
Verily, these (disbelievers) love the present life of this world, and put behind them a heavy Day (that will be hard). (27)
(27) It is We Who created them, and We have made them of strong built. And when We will, We can replace them with others like them with a complete replacement.
