What's your excuse? When you make out your To-Do list every single week and you look
at your time diary of how you spend your time and you have things that roll over from one
week to the next and they never seem to get done - what is your excuse? Is it that you
don't have enough time? Is it that you don't have enough money? Or is it that you don't
have enough energy? Those are all very legitimate excuses. I'm not saying we don't have to have
excuses. But they are a telltale sign of what you absolutely need to work on. Let me give
you an example. I have a client who's in the enviable position of making a lot of money
and she's very profitable but she's miserable. She has no more passion for her business.
She works 75 hours a week. I'm helping her figure out why that's such a big problem for
her and why she feels the need to have to work that many hours and why she has no more
passion and enthusiasm. That seems like an enviable position because she has money but
her big excuse has always been, 'But I have to do this. But I have to do that.' She can't
delegate. She doesn't want to, you know, there are a million reasons why. They're all legitimate.
But if your excuse for not getting things done in your business is always because of
money then your business doesn't have a very good sustainable model. If we're three years,
four years, five years in and you can't hire a front desk person or an intern or a manager
or you can't go to a trade show because of money, you need to have that be an indicator
for you of exactly what you need to be working on in your business. If it's time you have
to figure out, 'why am I working so many hours?' So it's not that you don't, aren't allowed
to have excuses. We all have excuses and they're all legitimate. What I'm telling you is it's
a huge indicator of the very area you need to be working on. Time, energy or money. What's
your excuse? Find that out and that's your Backpocket Strategy for the week. Make it
a great week. Hop on over to my Facebook page, Backpocket Strategy, and let me know what
you think.
