what is the difference between mass and weight
mass is the amount of matter in the object
weight is the force that experienced by the object due to gravity.
mass is a property a while weight is a force.
Weight, being a force, is measured by unit- Newtons.
while mass is measured by unit - kilogram
Weight is a force that's generated by mass and gravitational force.
and as shown by the equation,
gravity is the only reason that mass is not equal to weight
Example:
Moon has only 1/6 of gravity of earth
precisely 16.7%
mass is unaffected by gravity, hence a 60kg you
will still have 60kg mass on moon.
as the matter in your body stays the same.
however your weight will be 1/6 of what it is on earth,
when you are on the moon.
