Hello my name is Paul Minikin from fmhearingsystems.co.uk
The purpose of this video is to show you how to use your Phonak Roger System
in conjunction with a typical desk phone. For the purpose of the video
we have got the Phonak Roger docking station, we have got the Phonak Roger Pen,
we have got the phone adapter that we can supply
to use with the phone, and here we have got a phone.
So basically any telephone
that's got a handset and with a curly cord
you can use this particular adapter
with a Phonak Roger system and for you to be able to hear telephone calls very clearly
into both your hearing aids.
So basically, you take the handset off its holder
and go to the base or the back of the telephone
and pull out the little plug, it's called an RJ11 socket, it's a little
clear, plastic oblong plug thats very common on
most desk phones. If you got this little clear plastic RJ11 plug
you're in business. So you take the telephone adapter,
it's got an empty RJ11 socket.
You plug the RJ11
from your handset into the empty socket,
at the other end of the telephone adapter you have got another RJ11 socket.
That goes into the base of your telephone where the handset was originally plugged into.
OK, so the telephone for anybody else who wants to use the telephone
they can use it in the normal way and speak.
We have got the telephone adapter in serial with the curly cord
with a 3.5mm audio jack
very similar to what you would see in a standard set of headphones
that you might plug into your mobile phone
or any other kind of audio device.
The 3.5mm jack plugs into, it's got a socket in the back of
the docking station of the Phonak Roger Pen.
So you plug the 3.5mm jack into the back of the docking station.
The docking station doesn't need to be powered for this to work.
Basically the Roger Pen
place into the docking station, take care the long thin
microphone port wants to face to the front where the Phonak logo is
so that the micro USB socket
of the Roger Pen
fits firmly into the docking station.
If you try to put it in sideways or the opposite way around it just won't fit.
So do make sure that you get the microphone port lined up with the front
of the docking station. So, when that's plugged in make sure it's seated properly.
If you pick up the phone, if you've got your Phonak Roger receivers
already hooked up to your hearing aids you pick up the phone
basically you will be able to hear the telephone
directly into both your hearing aids wirelessly.
You are holding the handset up to your ear
so that people can hear you through the mouthpiece
but you won't be using the earpiece to hear, the audio from the telephone will go
straight into both your ears
taking into account the response of the hearing aids.
Just one little thing to a bear in mind,
the telephone adapter has got a little switch on the side
PLAY and REC. With most telephones
you would push the little button across to REC.
Occasionally, depending on how telephones are wired
you might find if you don't get any audio switch across
to PLAY and in most cases that will resolve any issues.
There are small number of phones where both positions (REC and PLAY)
won't work. If you find that is the case please get back to us.
Contact us and we will help you where we can.
Most typical desk phones you use
and at home will work, in fact
all desk phones at home will work, it's just certain office
telephone systems that you might have a little trouble with. It's a very small number
of Panasonic and Mytel phones
but the phone adapter will work with the majority of telephones.
