How to you use the Elmo TT-02 document camera's
basic controls and functions in a GVSU classroom.
A document camera is simply a special kind of camera
that allows you to place a document or three-dimensional object
underneath its lens
and then display the image through the classroom's large screen LCD
projection system.
It can also be called a visualizer
or visual presenter.
Grand Valley State University
has now standardized on the Elmo model TT-02 document camera
for use as part of its classroom instructor workstations.
With the TT-02
you'll be able to display the pages of a book or magazine,
view a 3-dimensional object close-up
or demonstrate a procedure in real time for the entire class to see.
In order to take full advantage of its many unique features and benefits
there are just a few simple controls
that you should familiarize yourself with
in preparation for your class.
The TT-02
has a logically designed control panel
with simplified buttons
and LEDs that makes its operation easy and intuitive.
The control panel
is located on the base of the document camera
and features:
A power button for turning the unit on and off.
A menu button for accessing the on-screen display functions.
Brightness controls for increasing or decreasing the image brightness.
An SD button for switching the output image two the SD card mode
and an image save button for capturing images to an SD card.

Rotate the *** at the left end of the camera head toward you
to zoom in and away from you
to zoom out.
The TT-02
also has an auxiliary LED lamp
that ensures easy-to-view presentations, even in darkened rooms.
If you find that your image is to dark or looks a little grainy,
slide the light switch on the camera head to the left to turn on the lamp
and add extra illumination to your subject.
And finally, with the built-in SD card slot you can capture images in
preparation for your class or presentation, store them on a memory card
and then play them back as a slideshow presentation through the TT-02.
The slot is located on the left side of the base
and uses a standard SD card.
Now that you know where the basic operating controls are located,
let's prepare the TT-02 for use in a classroom situation.
Turn the camera column counter clockwise
so that the camera head is facing you
and rotate the camera head up and into position.
Never hold or apply excessive force to the camera head
and always be sure to hold the column when turning or repositioning it.
On the base,
press the main power switch "On" and the switch will turn green.
Place a document or 3-dimensional object below the camera head
and using the zoom dial,
adjust the image size
so that the object's area of interest
fits within the projected image's borders.
By adjusting the angle of the camera column and the camera head,
a 3-D object can be shot from the side as well.
To automatically focus the camera's lens, press the orange button at the end
of the camera head.
Once the lens is adjusted, the auto focus operation will maintain focus until you
reposition the camera.
The factory default for brightness is set to automatic,
but you can also manually adjust this setting by pressing the plus "BRIGHTNESS"
button on the base to increase the overall image brightness or the minus button to
decrease it.
To go back to factory default setting,
press the plus and minus buttons at the same time.
You can also illuminate your object and increase the brightness
by turning on the built-in lamp.
