You know one of my favorite philosophers Will Durant once said,
"Barbarism is like the jungle, it never dies
but it retreats behind the barriers
civilization has thrown up against it and waits there always
to retake what civilization
has taken from it."
I've never forgotten that passage, and as I look back on
my career, all the things that I've seen, I remember
these are the barriers. You are the barriers,
these barriers do not stand unless good people are there
to reinforce them. And so for Tom
and for Sharon, and for all of us, we're not just on earth to be here tonight.
This is really just a tribute to our mother. But
we're happy to be a part of this because
if we all get through these times it will be because
of people like the people who are here tonight. And so my thanks to all
of you for having us here tonight. We really appreciate what you're doing. Thank you.
