bjbj Review of The Paperboy Hi, this is John with Reel Sexuality for *** Futurist, with
a sexuality review of The Paperboy, starring Zac Efron as paperboy for his father, Scott
Glenn s small Florida town newspaper and brother of Matthew McConaughey, who is a reporter
for a Miami newspaper and has returned home with his writing partner David Oyelowo to
cover the story of a ***. There is Nicole Kidman who has fallen in love with death row
inmate John Cusack, and an unrecognizable Macy Gray as Anita, the family servant and
narrator of the story, whose performance and appearance reminds me of Monique and Mariah
Carey in Daniels previous film, Precious Even though the sex isn t graphic, there are plenty
of underwear shots of Efron, one scene where Kidman and Cusack *** in front of each
other while Efron, McConaughey and Oyelowo watch, and another scene where McConaughey
ends up naked, handcuffed, and bloody on a motel room floor. The movie has a gritty texture
and grain to it reminiscent of movies in the 60 s and you feel the heat of the South like
you are sweating right along with the characters. At the end, I felt like I had been dipped
in the movie and coated in some kind of film. But Daniels style of directing matches and
captures the sexuality of the characters as they slide headfirst and blind into the consequences
of their mishandled sexuality. In, The Paperboy , Daniels explores sexuality through his three
main characters Efron is a young man desperate for a mother figure in his life, who finds
it in Anita and then, initially in Kidman, until he falls in love with Kidman and she
becomes his pursuit and raison d tre. His jealousy for her leads him into fights, heartache,
and potential death. McConaughey is a closet self loather whose sexuality explains the
scars on his face and who seemingly is the only guy not completely absorbed by Kidman.
The reason is that she s got the wrong plumbing and she s the wrong color Kidman pursues long
distance love with men in prison and later dumps them when the relationship could include
actual, physical connection. After falling in love with Cusack, she agrees to help McConaughey
and Oyelowo try to win his freedom. When Cusack is released she wants nothing to do with him,
but he wants her to come live in the swamp and doesn t allow Kidman to wriggle out of
the relationship. The sexuality of these three leads them to an inevitable conclusion, illustrating
that when we mismanage our sexuality, it has negative ramifications for the rest of whatever
is going on in our lives and can turn from beautiful and alluring into a tragedy. This
has been John with Reel Sexuality for *** Futurist. Be sure to leave a comment and let
us know what you thought about the movie. Thanks for watching. hh(z hGt< hxb? hxb? [Content_Types].xml
