ALEX PERRIELLO: You know, we've seen some of the new and
emerging trends in social, network and mobile.
Probably the most interesting is in the social networking
area, where I think it was a learning experience for me.
But as I've talked to agents from around the country and
listened to what they're saying and how they're doing,
blogging was, I think, an amazing opportunity for an
agent to become an expert in a local market by giving advice
and counsel and commentary on what's going on.
And those that are consistent with it-- and I'm hearing this
from agents all over the country-- if they have a
consistent approach, people read their stories.
They read their blogs.
And then the customer comes to you, and says I
like the way you think.
I want to do business with you.
Rather than the other way around of you trying always to
go out hunt for clients, the clients are
actually coming to you.
And they're coming to you for, to me, for
a much deeper reason.
Now they know how you think.
They know what your views are.
They know what your strategies and tactics might be of how
you handle your business.
They know your commitment to customer service.
Those kind of things that you can't do in a normal ad.
But they read about that.
And after a while, they get to know you.
So they're almost calling you as a friend, rather than a
complete stranger.
So that I think has been very, very profound.
if you will.
Of how you connect with customers.
And the other is with mobile devices.
It's no longer-- you can't just say well, I'm going to
confine everything that I'm doing to just beyond people's
desktops or laptops.
You need to be everywhere.
I think what's exciting going forward is being able to be
out in front of a property with a mobile application and
get all of the information on that property, and then just
hit the call button.
And now you're talking to the listing agent.
That's taking that interaction with the customer
to a whole new level.
