CAMPO´s new album was released a few months ago.
It was really well received,
specially by the media which had nothing but great comments about it.
While people were just starting to listen to the album and relating to the music,
we locked ourselves into the studio to rehearse and prepare in order to go out and play our music live.
Bringing CAMPO´s music to a live audience was a very complex process,
since CAMPO was conceived as an album project, more like a laboratory project.
Many musicians were involved in the recording of this album.
It was very interesting to see how some aspects of CAMPO´s music
that were only outlined in the album, were suddenly enhanced and gained relevance during the live shows.
I believe that CAMPO´s music is multidimensional, a feature that you can experience throughout the entire show.
There are songs during which the audience can´t help it but get up and dance.
The physical dimension is very important in CAMPO´s music but it is not the only one.
There is another dimension that is about looking inward, about introspection.
There are some parts of the show that are really just to listen and reflect.
All of those dimensions of CAMPO´s live music,
allow it to be expressed in various forms:
as a DJ set,
as a band composed by 5 or 6 musicians
or even as a more “orchestra- like” band of 9 members.
It is very interesting to see the way music manifests itself in any of these formats,
and such versatility is the reason why this music can be played in clubs,
theatres, open spaces and festivals.
The goal is to bring this music to as many places in the world as possible.
Being in front of a band, playing the guitar and singing, is an absolute new experience for me,
and I believe it is a challenge for all of us in the band.
It is a first time at many things for all of us,
but it´s what keeps us fresh and curious,
like children.
