Hi. My name is Keith Tovares; I am Vice President of Institutional
Advancement, here at Child & Family. Child & Family is the oldest and
largest social service provider here in Newport County, Rhode Island. We
were founded in 1866, shortly after the Civil War, as an orphanage for
destitute children and children of parents who were lost in the Civil War.
We provide early learning for infants to children, we have elder care
services, we provide behavioral health services, family support services,
teen programs, mentoring programs for teens, as well as school-based
programs for children and teens within our school systems. For the most
part, we rely heavily on individual donors, businesses, and people that are
attending our special events and benefits.
Before we started using Bloomerang, we were using another software system
that we had been using for many years. We were trying to build our capacity
and the software system we had just wasn't working. It was confusing, it
wasn't easy to use. The reports that we were requesting through it weren't
what we were looking to use in a way that would help us build capacity. We
needed to switch, we needed to change software that would help us get to
where we needed to be as an organization our size. After doing some
research and vetting different software providers, we felt that Bloomerang
was the best fit for our organization.
I think Bloomerang really is user-friendly. It's a software that allows me
to do something very quickly, as getting an address of a donor or running a
comprehensive report around people that have been giving for many years. It
allows us to look at data in different ways and to look at how we can use
that data to build our capacity in fundraising. It's the right fit because
it's easy to use and it does provide the services that a large organization
or small organization would need.
