So you may be wondering what exactly acupressure can treat. Hi my name is Mark Brinson, doctor
of oriental medicine, physical medicine and human performance specialist. Acupressure
points are found all over the body just like acupuncture points and actually they are the
same thing. The treatments that you can do both with acupuncture and acupressure are
also the same. Basically acupressure is used without needles, either with a thumb, a fingernail
or sometimes with a point stimulator, either electrical or occasionally you can use something
a little bit sharper like maybe the fingertip or the tip of an ink pen, the top of an ink
pen not the actual pointy portion. Conditions range from everything that you can treat in
Western medicine lean more towards the chronic side of things so if I have something that
is very acute like I've got a high fever or I've got some sort of an inner ear infection
things like that that is not what you really want to treat with acupressure, that might
be something that is better treated with a Western physician. Whereas if you have chronic
problems, chronic pain, chronic ear infection, you have something that isn't being treated
well through medication or other types of therapy, acupressure may be for you. My name
is Mark Brinson wishing you a happy day and a balanced life.
