Welcome to whiskey.com
My name is Luening, Horst Luening. You know why James Bond uses
this kind of introduction? Because you remember the name much better
So my name is Luening Host Luening and I'm the Master taster
of whiskey.com. I work for a very big
and independent whiskey retailer. Our sales
reachedhalf a million bottles
in 2013 and most of them were
Scottish single malt whiskies in the price range
from 30 to 200 €uros, which equals
roughly 40 tp 300 U$ Dollars.
Before you ask we do not sell
to foreign countries. There are no exceptions.
We have no contacts with forwarders
outside our country and duty regulations
prohibit us to sent outside
of our home country. Don't call, don't write emails.
You will not get an answer. I'm sorry. The good thing is
I'm able to taste all the whiskies we have,
and all kinds of whisky
we putting our hands-on and in my life
order already tasted more than a thousand whiskys
And most of them I tasted in front
of this video camera. And
well all those tastings were in a foreign language and they consisted
of tastings, of experiments,
of teaching lessons, how whiskys is made,
visits to distilleries, and so on. And all those
videos you will get here on this channel
on whiskey.com in the upcoming
years in the English language. That's the good news.
I'm not so bad
in telling stories and my videos
were already viewed
7.7 million times up to
the end of the year 2013. So
please subscribe to my channel I put a link in here.
It is woth it. Yes speaking
of the mother language I'm no native English speaker.
But I worked for many years for a
Scottish English and US-American
companies. My English became a bit rusty in the last year's,
but I promise I will improve over the upcoming thousand videos
Talking about my former employees,
I'll a mechanical engineer with masters
degree in aerospace technology. well
aerospace technology and whiskey. Let's have a look at the mechanical
engineering background
and with his I visited more than 160 distilleries
worldwide most in Scotland, but also
in Ireland, Canada and North
America. I took
several thousand pictures those distilleries
and very detail in those destilleries:
The pot stills, the mash tuns, the washbacks
and the warehouses, and, and, and.
I show these pictures on our website whisky.com
in the upcoming month. And I always show a picture of the
corresponding distillery to my tasty bottle
prior to opening the bottle.
Then I show the label of the bottel in full detail.
Excuse me ... hmhmhmhm...
and please be assured whiskey making
is now a rocket science.
My tastings follow a regular schedule
Firsts I talk about the distillery, then
about the particular bottle, then opened the bottle
taste it and if it tastes really good I taste it
several times. Two or three times. But even the
normal or normal good ones I taste
one time. And if they do not taste well
form my personal point of view, I will tell you.
So to be aware the I like a lot of different whiskeys
and its it must be a very bad whiskey that
I say it is not tasting very good for me.
so be careful I like whiskey.
If you want to question me about
the whisky or to ask questions about the whisky
and my videos please visit to whisky.com I put
these videos in my blog their and you're able to
comments below the video.
And I'm typically there to answer your questions. There is also a forum or an
upcoming forum there. Where we will discuss
about the whisky and other experts from whisky.com will
discussed there as well. And you know we are selling more than half a million whiskey
bottles a year and there are a lot of experts
here at whiskey.com
If you decides to
comment on youtube itself
then be aware that I do not have so much time to answer
every question on YouTube. It's better come over to our website.
I will answer there. A last word
about responsible drinking. Please drink responsibly!
It does not matter how many whiskeys you tasted on an
evening 5, 6 or even 8. There's no sense in it.
Take one or two and then nose very long
on the glass and sip a little bit.
Keep the whiskey in your mouth, let it develop, and finally you swallow.
Don't swallow too much. It's not good for you
at all. So nosing and tasting
this is the real heart
of whiskey tasting. Swallowing
is part of the tasting and you want to be able to decide, whether the whisky is really
good without swallowing.
But swallowing is not the main part.
And of course don't drink and drive.
Alcohl works on your nerve system
and be careful about that.
And do not drink if you are below the legal drinking age
of your country.
Don't mess around with authorities.
so enjoy my upcoming videos
enjoy whiskey.com and I hope
you subscribe to my whiskey.com YouTube channel here.
