So something else that seems to accumulate around office desks are just papers that you
need to keep, or want to keep, but you don't necessarily file them right away when you
get them. So, for instance, I have some mail and some bill stubs that I haven't yet filed,
and before you move is the perfect opportunity to do that. Really try to resist the urge
to just gather them all up and throw them into a basket randomly. And I go ahead and
file them, if you have a filing system, this is my filing system for all my bill stubs
and my records and that kind of thing, so before I move, or while I'm packing, I'm going
to go ahead and file everything that is at my desk that needs to be filed and that I
want to keep. In addition to this file, as you can tell I'm a big fan of these file folders,
and I have this file folder for more personal items and maybe programs and articles and
those kinds of things that I want to keep, but I want to have out of the way, and photographs,
and cards from friends, birthday cards, that kind of thing. So any of those kinds of papers
that I find laying around my desk, I'm going to go ahead and file in this file folder.
And the same thing with my work files. These are my work files, and as I'm packing and
I'm looking around my desk, I'm going to file all of the papers on the projects that I'm
currently working on and put them in the appropriate file and then I'll be putting these in a box
of their own so that I know that those are my work files.
